Since I am a holistic health care educator and practitioner for both horses and humans, I have extensively searched over the years for effective and economical products that will enhance my natural horse keeping. Here are some of my 'keepers' that I always have on hand:

Pro-Bi Liquid by ABC - $35 (16 oz Liquid Bottle) + S/H

One of the most effective and well tolerated products that support normal healthy equine intestinal flora I have found. I use once a day doses during weather extremes and barometric pressure fluctuations. In the rare instance of an impending colic, a small amount every 30 minutes with the appropriate Jin Shin Jyutsu acupressure clears the issue in short order. For one day before, during and after worming I have given the Pro-Bi twice daily to reestablish and balance intestinal flora.

Sore No More Liquid - $16 (16 oz Liquid Bottle) + S&H

A brilliant blend of refreshing anti-inflammatory herbs that does double duty as an after ride brace as well as a tonic for soft tissue injuries. I fill a spray bottle and mist the saddle area as well as the legs before and after rides. It is also an absolute wonder for taking the itch out of both human and animal insect bites.

A masterful blend that supports the circulation of equines of all ages. Put the spring back into your horse's step! My 25 year old arthritic mare with navicular syndrome stays comfortable year round with one daily scoop and nothing else other than free choice salts.

Himalayan Salt Licks - $16 (4.5 lb individually wrapped chunk) + S/H

Mined from centuries old deposits in the Himalayan mountains, this salt is free of toxins and pollutants and is believed to be the purest found on earth. It contains 84 easily absorbed trace minerals to promote optimum health.

My Icelandics and senior quarter horse mare choose this salt chunk over all loose salts and free choice minerals. They treat it like a lollipop, contentedly licking it with their eyes half closed. Since I added the Himalayan salt licks 2 years ago my very easy keeper Icelandics seem more satisfied with their grass hay rations and are able to maintain a healthy weight. They also adjust more easily to weather changes, especially the hotter weather, which we can have in California any time of the year.

I always keep a white salt brick out as well just so they have a choice, but they rarely use the white salt anymore.
